I find repetition a good tool to create tension in very orderly compositions or structures, which can be used as parallels to trigger many different subjects at hand. Adding relief to constructions where repetition is present adds a large amount of historical and architectural meaning. This can create great opportunities to disrupt the elements of order, when combining relief and repetition in a contemporary art.

The use of bricks has been a way of working for me for some years now. If you think of a brick as a start of any idea, action, story, system, political system and so on. The first one if often the ground and base for what ever is to become. Eventually a complete system containing a lot of brick all look like doing, what they are made to do and result in a very orderly “looking” construction. These orderly construction/ illusions I find very effective and interesting to play with/ break down by implementing relief symbols.
